Focus Stacking via Lens

There are two types of focus stacking techniques, either by moving the camera lens or by moving the focus point. Shifting the focus point is also called focus shifting or focus bracketing.

I use either a Nikon D850 with a Nikon AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED or a Nikon Z6 with extension rings and a Nikon NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8S or via FTZ adapter with the Micro-Nikkor 105mm or Nikon AF-S Micro-NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED. Both cameras offer focus shift shooting.

In conjunction with the Nikon D750, which does not offer the focus shift mode, I use qDslrDashboard in conjunction with an Android tablet. In addition to focus shifting, qDSLRDashboard offers outstanding Timelaps functionality. A light tent ensures uniform illumination of the object.

2 iShoot Universal 150 mm Macro Focusing Rail Slider were put together to form an x-y cross table to high precision when adjusting the camera. A Two-dimensional Tiltable Ball Head 360° Panorama Camera Head With Quick Release Plate Compatible with Arca-Swiss Standard hold the system.
